* When a new pack of Optium electrodes is purchased and the meter is re-calibrated this will automatically upgrade the Optium monitor from a 20 second to a 10 second test time.
* The same is true for the Medisense TrueSense monitor.
* The new 10 second packs of electrodes can be identified by the 'yellow flash' on the right hand side of the front of the pack - no new scripts or NDSS forms etc are required.
* Due to the smaller sample volume of 1.5 microlitres, it is possible for people to use Alternate Site Testing (AST) if they want to, however they should use an approved Lancing device with an AST cap and be aware that there are limitations on the use of AST - ie where you can do the tests, a number of extra variables which effect the consistency of your test results (consult your healthcare professional or the product insert in their electrode pack for more information).
