Embryonic stem cells have no antigen information at the stage research is done, where adult stem cells have already adopted the antigen markers necessary to survive within the individual.

The main focus is to learn the mechanism of being able to reliably dictate what form a stem cell will be able to take.

Once the tissue type issue is solved, it is as simple as recombinant DNA (Same process is used to 'make' human based insulin) to premark the stem with the recipients' antigen pattern, thus making immunosuppression unnecessary. In the beginning, immunosuppression may be utilized in very reduced amounts as a measure of insurance.
