I agree with Acey. At least they were in the plane though and not in the hold. If you've got a medical device attached to you it's pretty strong evidence that you have the disease and that you are not a terrorist who is going to jab the pilot with something midflight which casues him to crash the plane. Doctors letter is a good idea but what if you are travelling to the US where I don't think they accept this and will only let you board with injection devices or pumps if you carry insulin with a pharmacy printed label
btw I travelled from Wales to Ireland about 2 years ago from a small "local" airport. I rang them about my D supplies in advance and they wanted me to put them in the hold and couldn't see a problem with this as the flight was only 1 hour Doh!. We finally negotiated that I could bring them with me on the plane if i had a letter from my doctor and as I am a doctor myself...double doh! so if I was not a qualified medical person I would just have had to risk going into DKA. Being a doctor sure does have it's perks. You are allowed to keep yourself alive! The small mindedness of some people. This was an airport where there was no x ray machine and they opened everyone's cases and went through the luggage piece by piece, and then let people board the plane with small handbags!!- not searched
