Hi
I had to fly from a regional airport to Melbourne on Thursday last week & back again the same day.
I am on a pump, had diabetes for 10 years & only flown once before & hated it!!
I got from home to Melbourne no worries. No questions asked.
When I went to go through the check in Melbourne I declared that I had syringes in my pack (I didnt check my bag in cause I didnt have much) and that i am on an insulin pump. The security people decided that i did not need my 6 syringes & that these would be given to the pilot for safe travel. I had only bought them with me as a precausion incase my pump line kinked or something so no big deal.
My question is - do I just need to get my doc (probably my gp) to write a note to say Im not a threat & that I need syringes?
I wasnt upset or anything, just never occured to me that I would cause issues by carrying syringes.
