I have T1D for 17 years. I tried Xenical for 2 months in April/May.

IT DID NOT WORK !!!

Apparently if you are already on a low-fat diet, you won't lose more weight because the Xenical works by making the fat from food get excreted instead of absorbed. If there isn't much fat to start with...not much to excrete.

If you try Xenical you are warned about having steatorrhea (oily diarrhoea) and anal leakage, but none of that happened with me (because I never ate high fat anyway).

The GP who prescribed it to me said if it does work, it will be in the order of about 0.5kg per month. Which, considering the price, is hardly worth it. I got $70 back each time from my health insurance, which meant $62 out of pocket for me each month.

Good luck, I hope it works for you if you try it.
