Ignorance!

Dear Reality Check, My name is Sophie, I am thirteen years old and I have had Diabetes for about two and a half years.  I found out about you through a poster in the waiting room of the Adolescent Mental Health place across the road from the Children’s Hospital.  I am so glad I am not the only one to have those urges!  I got so annoyed with the newspaper 'The Age' because they ran two articles about Diabetes (which were about Type Two, of course), but they didn't differentiate between the two.  So I wrote a letter explaining the difference, how I manage it, and how annoying it is when people tell you what to do when they don't know anything about it, or they know about type two, or they tell you about eating too much sugar when you were young etc., etc.  After a very long fight (my mum joining in) they printed it.  The health editor rang me up and said that she was very sorry, and is planning on running an article about juvenile Diabetes (she hasn't done it yet, though!).
Keep up the web site!  I love it.  I have sent the website to my cooking/health teacher.  She thinks that the recipes are great.  Please put some more on!

Love,
Sophie
