HAWAIIAN PRE-DINNER DRINKS

Momentarily it felt like an episode of Survivor. We were taken to a secret location without knowing what fate lay ahead. We arrived in one of the function rooms only to find it had just had a major Hawaii make over. There were inflatable fish, streamers of every colour and some other decorations that no matter how long I stared at them I just couldn’t figure out what they were. As we walked in everyone was presented with a lay [insert corny joke here].

Music was playing, snacks were circulating, people were chatting, yelling and someone was singing. There was an incredible punch to devour and, beer and all that jazz.

It was full party mode but also a great chance to catch up with people that you’d spotted around all day but didn’t get a chance to talk to. There was a lot of discussion and reflection on the various sessions, debate and conversation about all things diabetic or not, and there was even some flirting going on.
