VITAL STATISTICS
Name? Melinda Seed
How old are you? Too old to disclose such a thing
Where do you live? Sydney
What do you do? Hmm, lots of stuff. My day job involves organising money, people and other resources for a charity.

Anything to declare? If I must.......I'm really an accountant.

MORE ABOUT YOU
A few words about yourself?
Terrible procrastinator, a cynical idealist-if there can be such a thing.

Where were you born and raised? Sydney girl through and through

Favourite piece of music? Can I have a favourite book instead? Jane Eyre.

Sources of strength and inspiration? Faith in God.

Greatest weakness? Complete lack of patience.

ME AND THE BIG D
When were you diagnosed with Diabetes? A very long time ago, let’s just say I remember Mum boiling up glass syringes and putting clinitest tablets in test tubes.

What does a hypo feel like? Like your brain's in quicksand.

Does everyone around you know about your D? Yep

Has Diabetes changed anything about you? I was diagnosed in infancy so I don’t know what it’s like not to have d. Maybe I’d have the patience of a saint if I didn’t have diabetes, but all of my life experiences have changed me in some way and have gone into making me who I am.

What do you wish someone had told you (or your parents) the day you were diagnosed? That’s tough, from what I know now I think the doctors did a great job with what they knew at the time.

Any wisdom to share? To quote the great modern day philosopher Dr Suess, “Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.”
