| Just another
challenge
When I was 24 I underwent a HUGE lifestyle change when I came 'out'. Luckily for me, my family and friends (and work colleagues) were extremely supportive. As of last Saturday, I am also a Type I diabetic - and again I'm asking those same people to support me through this, I guess, adjustment phase, where I re-learn my past 26 years of bad eating habits and addictions. (I think I've already worked out how to compensate just enough insulin for a red frog now and then!) Both my doctor and educator both launched into the "...well there's no cure, but one day..." type of spiel - but to be honest, I just want to learn to manage day to day stuff - before I begin to bemoan the fact that 'there's no cure'. One of the first things I did when I got home from hospital was to surf the net, and there are some great sites around the place with recipes and hints etc. But so far your site has probably been the most supportive. Keep up the good work! Rest assured at Mardi Gras I will
be wearing both a red and a grey ribbon with pride.
