Hi Steph,
I'm currently TTC baby number 2 (and on IVF - not fun, more needles!) I already have a beautiful 3 yr old daughter conceived naturally.
Like you, I was very scared at first when we find out we were expected.
My advice would be to make sure you give yourself a bit of a 'mental break' sometimes. I found that I got so obsessed with my BSLs that it was actually causing me too much stress which is not good for bub. I recall that at about the 5 month stage my HbA1C was at about 4.4, the Doctors stepped in and said 'TAKE IT EASY!' and they were right, I was just so paranoid... you hear such scary stories about babies being born too big due to high sugars etc, I know that is a risk, but these days Doctor's are much more optimistic and positive about T1 pregnancies, especially when you have such good control, like yourself...... Your DE is also right, 9,10,11's etc are fine occasionally.
My daughter arrived healthy and fine, she had low sugar levels for the first few days (2.3 - 2.9) so we had to top her up with formula etc, but other than that she was a normal baby. And she is honestly the best thing that has ever happened to me.
If I ever get the chance to do it again (hopefully soon) I will learn to take it easier on myself. Remember you are growing a little human inside you AND you have the challenge of T1 - you are doing an AMAZING job, and it's hard work. I think my pregnancy taught me a lot of resilience, I often reflect on how tough it was and how proud I am that I got through it, and it's TOTALLY worth it.
Also, I read this book when I was pregnant, which is about T1 and pregnancy.. it was pretty useful, nothing ground-breaking, but it was nice to have a book that reflected my situation compared to other pregnancy books.

Stay strong and keep us updated!!
