Carb counting disaster...

Postby Christhelegend » Wed May 16, 2012 7:58 pm

So being the 'good' diabetic that I am (!!) I am having a blitz and weighing all my food this week. Wife cooked a lovely stirfry with rice noodles, nutrition panel told me the serve size with carbs. Weighed it out, hmmm not many noodles in the bowl. Bolused for 50g cho (70g weight) and thought nothing more until wife said "was the weight dry or cooked?"...CRAP. Quick check on calorieking suggests the packet weight was dry...and the 70g was more like 15g cho! Madly ate a sandwich and crossed fingers and toes.

Lol, I'm laughing because the same thing happened to me. I was weighing the pasta when it was cooked and the portion was so tiny I started feeling miserable. I looked at the packet but it didn't indicate it was raw, so I concluded it was!
