Anyone like to "Walk For A Cure" as a Bris North group??

Postby CarolynR » Mon Oct 03, 2011 4:14 am

Would anyone from Brisbane north/north-west like to meet up and walk as a group in "Walk for a Cure" on 30th October. Venue is Chermside. Start time is 9am and its 4K. We could even organize cool "Reality Check Bris North" t-shirt if we decide soon. Check out the Walk for a Cure website and have a think- quickly I guess. It would be good to walk and chat I think. :-)

Hi Carolyn and Tracey,
Dam i would have loved to, but still up the coast around 1770.
Will catch up for a good walk in November / December if we can organise it.

If I can get the 30th off, Count me in. I normally walk about 5 - 6k's every 2nd day anyway, what's a 3 hour drive south just to do it? lol

Hi. I've posted an invite to join in a "Brisbane Team" for Walk For A Cure" on the main Forum. The Noosa Tri is on the same morning so really fit Type1s might be doing that! Anyway there are probably 4 of us so far?! We can make definite plans in the week before. Im not sure how much notice they need to produce T shirts but could look into that at the end of the week and we can make a decision then about whether to go ahead. Meanwhile, just register as individuals once you've decided definitely to go it. Cheers,
CarolynR.

Should we make a team?? Ali do you want to set it up? I didn't want to until I knew there would be some team members. Now we have Carolyn, TraceyT, Sarah, Jono,Tracey, and Ali plus 2/3? I'd say enough for a team! What do you think about some bright green tshirts with "Reality Check Type1 Bris-Babes & Dudes 2011" printed on it? Who's keen? And what size? I think they will work out at $11 each if I order 10. CarolynR

Post a thread in the main forum so that anyone who wants to donate can do so. You'll probably get a few who'll give.

Hi Bris Reality Checkers,
I've been very busy with work, kids, etc so haven't been to our Meet site for a while. it seems there will be 6 of us walking? Thanks Ali for setting up the team page! Love our name! Are you bringing others to the walk? - I thought you may have been bringing +2or3?
Does anyone know where I might have seen the "How to order T-Shirts for the Walk" page?? I can't find it!! We may have to walk without a team shirt this year unless someone can find it quickly. Otherwise should we get something of our own made up? It may be expensive if there are only 5 to order. I swear I saw somewhere that you could order a T-shirt with a Walk To Cure logo!
Anyway... I've emailed lots of friends hoping for donors and have set my target pretty high - so we'll see how it goes.
I work as a physio in a Special School and this year is the 3rd year I have organised to take kids with special needs to the Noosa Special Triathlon. Its a fairly large organizational challenge but sooooo much fun. We have 15 kids entered this year - we stay at the scout den on Friday night (kids, teachers, parents), eat at the yacht club(I've booked for 50) and all get up at 5.30 to race in the Special Tri which is run after the Noosa Kids triathlon on Saturday morning - the 29th October. Every child has a buddy and its extremely wonderful being a part of the event. So I may be ready for a nice walk and chat by Sunday morning! WE need to plan a meeting spot. Should we park and meet in the carpark at Chermside Shopping Center? or try and get closer? What time do you want to meet?
See you all soon,
CarolynR

Just tell me where and when I meet and we shall be there!

Yay! I can get tshirts in time. Please post your sizes ASAP so I can order tonight. I think they will be about 16-20$ each. I'll order lime green and get RealityCheckers Bris Babes & Dudes printed on the back. You can just pay me on Sunday if that suits. My email is carolynrutter@optusnet.com.au Please email me so we can share contact details to make meeting on sunday easier. Put your chat name in subject bar so I can make sure it's one of us. Carolyn.

Looking forward to Sunday morning! There are 7 of us meeting at 8.30 on corner of Marmont and Halsmere Streets. The tee shirts look really cool- they will be $22 each so if you could just pay me with cash on Sunday that would be good. Jono, and Tracey - are you still coming? Anyone else who wants to come please join us! To donate and egg us on please go to/walk.jdrf.org.au/teamParticipant.asp?teamID=1087 There is a great map on the "walk for a cure" website.
Cheers, CarolynR.
