Last night I rang a well-known brokerage firm to check prices for PHI. When I spoke to the agent, she told me that my current PHI (LaTrobe Health Services) no longer covers insulin pumps. My reply was that I have a letter guaranteeing me that if I need a pump replaced for medical reasons or if it 'breaks' out of the warranty period, they will pay for it. Well and good. I have top hospital cover.
I have just changed to another company (AHM) which apparently (at the moment, anyway) will replace a pump when it is out of warranty. I'm also saving a bit of money by changing.
Probably worth checking with various brokers and with other PHIs.
